Description
The work was made for «Gazprom» company in connection with the opening a chapel-monument in Yugorsk Town. The chapel opening took place on May 9, 2000 in the 55th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. Initially, a gypsum sculpture "Pieta" was installed in 2000, but then the company's leaders ordered the conversion of the work into marble. The composition "Pieta" in marble was installed in August 2001.

In this work, the sculptor decided to turn to the classical subject "Pieta" or "Lamentation of Christ" by the hand of Michelangelo Buonarroti. Carved out of white Ural marble composition with a height of more than three meters amazes with its beauty and lightness. Faces are divine and spiritual. The work is full of breath and humble sorrow of the Mother of God. The chapel was created in memory of those who gave their lives for the faith and freedom of those who live now.
