Description
Aquarium "The Birth of Aphrodite" is made in a very characteristic style of Kazantsev in the late 80s - early 90s. Carved in marble are the figures of an old man and a beautiful girl, born of sea white foam.
Between the figures there is a niche for water - an aquarium. Water is a symbol of life, nothing on earth can exist without water. She gives life to Aphrodite. Goldfish, like bright fiery drops, scurry about in the thickets of algae. The spectacle is mesmerizing, prompts one to think. Philosophical questions of interaction - youth and maturity, female and male, what connects a beautiful maiden and an old man?
The work was exhibited once at the Radisson Hotel (Kievskaya) and at the “Souz” boarding house in the village of Kostrovo. Now in the personal collection of the author.
